The long distance coast to coast footpath (Grande Randonnée, GR 10) crosses our land and ancient paved mule tracks lead to neighbouring villages, abandoned farmhouses, solitary chapels and even across the border to Spain.

| The Vallespir is the most southerly valley in France, stretching from Le Boulou in the east to Prats de Mollo in the west. The river Tech links a string of market towns of medieaval origin and there are many remnants of the regions rich history to be visited: castles, forts, towers, roman chapels and monasteries, for these mountains have served both as a barrier and as a link between the Gaules to the north and the Moors to the south. |

The sacred Canigou mountain with its three peaks on the northside of the valley is considered the heart of Catalonia. The present French-Spanish border now divides the region although the Catalan language is used on both sides. Culture and folklore reflect the independence of the Catalan people and the traditional festivals are enthousiastically celebrated. |

The Mediterrenean coast is 50 minutes drive away, with long sandy beaches to the north. To the south there are rocky headlands and picturesque fishing villages where the unusually clear light has attracted many famous artists including Picasso and Dali.
